Kiddush Cups

A Kiddush cup is a ritual item used to bless over the wine on Shabbat, weddings, Bris and Jewish holidays. According to Judaism, blessing over wine sanctifies the event. It is customary that the head of the family fills the Kiddush cup with wine or grape juice, and blesses in front of the family. Then, each participant takes part in the Kiddush by taking a sip from the wine. In a wedding and Bris (Circumcision) the Rabbi blesses the wine in front of the congregation. It is customary to compile the Kiddush by using a sterling silver or a silver plated cup, or any other ornate goblet. A Kiddush cup is a meaningful gift for a Bar Mitzvah, Bat Mitzvah, a wedding, Bris, a man’s gift, or for a family hosting for the holidays.
