Star Of David
(in Hebrew- Magen David) is known as the Shield of king David. It has two interlocking triangles that symbolize unity, and the connection between heaven and earth and between the male and the female (which are represented by the two triangles). This hexagram has become a recognized symbol of Judaism. A Star of David was used by the Nazis during the Holocaust to identify Jews. As an act of pride, the flag of the state of Israel has a blue Star of David between two horizontal blue stripes, which symbolize the Jewish Tallit. This hexagram has become a symbol of Renaissance of the Jewish people in its own independent state. Many Jews wear jewelry with the Star of David, and it can make a meaningful gift for a Bar Mitzva, Bat Mitzva or as a personal grant for a man or a woman.
